Roland DGA (www.rolanddga.com) recently released an upgrade for its VersaWorks RIP software. Version 4.0 is based on the latest Adobe CPSI 3019 engine and is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP, and 2000. New features include error diffusion, designed to enhance print quality; Advanced Job Log, which allows users to export job information; more than 500 metallic colors in the Roland Metallic Color Library; and more. VersaWorks allows users to choose from high-speed mode for production banner printing, the MAX Impact preset for outdoor graphics, and Artistic mode for indoor graphics. It also features variable-data printing, supports up to four Roland devices simultaneously, and offers support for Roland’s GX series cutters. VersaWorks also estimates the ink usage and print time for each graphic automatically. The software offers embedded ICC profile support, ink-level-adjustment tools, proofing capabilities, and cropping, tiling, and nesting options. Versaworks Version 4.0 is included with all Roland inkjet printers. Existing Roland inkjet customers can upgrade to Version 4.0 free of charge via the Internet using the Roland@NET service.
