EFI (www.efi.com) recently unveiled the VUTEk QS220, a 6.5-ft (2-m) flatbed UV inkjet printer with High-Definition Print (HDP) technology. EFI says the printer offers lower ink-running costs than traditional wide-format printers and allows print businesses to expand into higher end, premium-margin applications. The QS220 supports production speeds up to 750 sq ft/hr (70 sq m/hr) and an optional roll-to-roll capability. VUTEk’s HDP technology is designed to provide imaging resolution up to 1080 dpi. The QS220 prints in four or six-colors, and it features a seventh channel for six variations of white ink. This configuration enables the QS220 to print color and white in three independent layers, all in one pass. The printer uses QS220 UV inks.
