On-line t-shirt sales

Posted on Mon, 11 Jul 2005 at 16:33

Hi

I am in the process of starting up a clothing label. To begin with I will only have an on-line presence.

I plan on registering the site with google and yahoo as well as advertising on various sites.

Can anyone give me any info with regards to how many t-shirts I can expect to sell in my first months. Obviously the figures will change based on marketing, popularity of the designs etc. But any starting point would be very helpful.

Thanks

if you are kind of t-shirt fellow and have lots of contacts with young t-shirts lovers you may do good. just dont count on it too much for the first 3-4 months. if you dont do good after that time you better rework your marketing approach. e-sales is a tricky thing and it's so hard this days to get a share of that market since so many talented and innovative people doing it this days...

good luck! (if you're somewhere in MI and looking for partner - let me know signsmaxmi@yahoo.com)

Rian, i think there is no answer to your question. Put it this way - if it's only thing you're going to do - it should pay you at least $4000/mo profit (I would say $7000-9000/mo sales should be) or if it's going to be on a side and a few hundred $$$ a week is ok - maybe $2000-3000 monthly sales to get paid that much. So what YOU should do in a first case let's say 400 shirts monthly (at $20 ea) or about 100 shirts a mo for a side business. Can you do it? it's all up to you. Google on-line stores, see how thay do, maybe ask questions owners of the sites?

This is really nice discussion going on here and ideas shared by is great. Well, I also would like to recommend something on question you have asked here. The online shopping is increased a lot now a days so the first best thing is to make an attractive eCommerce store/website from were you can attract customers. There is no doubt that the competition is much high in e-market today so if you want to sale more and wants to grow your business than try to focus more in providing good quality and service to your customer. Give your customer a chance to design there liked t shirt by them-self only using t-shirt design software from your ecommerce store.
